Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Azure Cloud Engineer to support our platform migration to Azure cloud infrastructure. This is an infrastructure specialist role (not an application developer role) focused on designing, implementing, and managing robust Azure cloud solutions. This role is critical for enabling our development team to operate independently while maintaining secure, scalable, and properly governed infrastructure.

Scope & Purpose

The Cloud Engineer will serve as the infrastructure backbone for our development team, managing the complete lifecycle of cloud infrastructure from design through production operations. This includes infrastructure deployment automation, access control management, security governance, and network connectivity—allowing developers to focus on application development rather than infrastructure concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Deployment

•Architect and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions using

•Azure services (VMs, VNets, Storage, APIs, Data Bricks, SQL, etc.)

•Configure and deploy Azure resources with proper tagging, naming conventions, and organizational structure

•Design multi-environment infrastructure aligned with development workflow needs

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

•Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or ARM Templates (Azure-specific)

•Create consistent, reproducible deployments across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments

•Ensure configuration fluency—deep understanding of Azure services is required to effectively script infrastructure deployments

•Manage configuration promotion between environments (Dev → QA → UAT → Prod)

Deployment Pipelines & SDLC:

•Design and implement automated deployment pipelines for applications, APIs, and Data Bricks notebooks

•Enable continuous deployment of infrastructure changes and application updates

•Manage the technical promotion pathway ensuring proper testing and validation at each stage

•Coordinate with QA and UAT teams on environment-specific configurations and networking requirements

Security & Access Management:

•Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and permission management across Azure resources

•Configure and administer Data Bricks security (preferred: Unity Catalog governance and administration)

•Establish data protection policies and ensure compliance requirements are met

•Manage network security, connectivity, and firewall rules between components

Troubleshooting & Support:

•Resolve complex infrastructure issues including networking connectivity, resource configuration, and deployment failures

•Support development team with infrastructure guidance and validation of cloud configurations

•Provide business-level testing validation (does this infrastructure do what it's supposed to do?)

•When using third-party vendors: specify requirements in detail and validate deliverables meet specifications

Required Skills & Experience

Core Requirements:

•Azure Infrastructure Expertise: Hands-on experience designing and deploying Azure services (VNets, Storage Accounts, Compute, Databases, APIs)

•Azure-Specific Focus: Deep knowledge of Azure ecosystem and best practices (not just general cloud/Terraform experience with other platforms)

•Infrastructure as Code: Proven experience with Terraform and/or ARM Templates in production environments

•Deployment Automation: Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes

•Security & Compliance: Knowledge of RBAC, network security, data protection, and Azure security best practices

•Networking: Understanding of networking concepts, connectivity, firewalls, and troubleshooting

Preferred Skills:

•Data Bricks administration experience (particularly Unity Catalog)

•Experience with DevOps practices and tooling (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.)

•SQL and relational database knowledge

•API management and integration experience

•Cloud migration project experience

•Certification: Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent
